Traveling Around The World To Fly In Wind Tunnels
Hurricane Factory - Berlin, Germany
I arrived at the new Hurricane Factory Berlin in a cold, windy January night. I had visited Hurricane Factory in Madrid several times as that is one of my favorite tunnels and was curious to see if the new HF was up to the same level. I was not dispointed!
The facility was brand new and had all the amenities for sport flyers: big training room with video screens for flight information and debriefing, and a big changing room with lockers, bathrooms and showers. The bar/restaurant is top notch.
And the tunnel!
A 17ft (5.2m) double recirculating design by Strojina Litvinov, with super powerful airflow courtesy of six 400hp motors. Best in the business!
The staff was very professional and I had the pleasure to meet some flyers from other tunnels I had visited so I felt right at home.
Overall this is a top destination for anyone wanting the best in tunnel flying and a vibrant touristic city.

The beautiful building, tunnel and restaurant

The brand new machine, 17ft of pure smooth airflow

I saw several 8-way teams training in the big tunnel

Amenities for sport flyers are excellent

My coach was Mat'o Weck. I knew him from Madrid and he was here to help organize and oversee new coaches

And look who was working here...Joelle Kuns, who I first met in Milan working at the Aerogravity wind tunnel

Yes! Germany is the land of beer!
