Traveling Around The World To Fly In Wind Tunnels
MadridFly - Madrid, Spain
MadridFly is located in the rich neighborhood of Las Rozas, about 30-40 minutes by taxi from the historical Madrid area. The tunnel is spectacular, with all the amenities for first timers and Sport Flyers.
It's a bit far and despite being in a rich neighbohhod the building sits in a remote area just adjacent to a cemetery (scary at night!).
Sport Flyers have a large training room and two debriefing rooms with video screens. The bar is excellent with hot snacks and cold drinks.
The tunnel is a fantastic sight! Very tall and well lit by a floor-to-ceiling window. The 15ft (4.6m) double recirculating design by spanish company Eydisa is the company's first wind tunnel so at the time of my visit a few bugs needed to be ironed out. Wind iside the tunnel was not uniform and the technologie didn't allow to open the antechamber door without creating an airflow inside the building. Those are not critical issues and only a very advanced flyer would notice.

MadridFly building is epectacular, with open spaces, lots of natural light during the day, and cinematic lighting at night

The tunnel is located a bit far from Madrid historical attractions, in a somewhat remote area, besides a cemetery! Not the best...

All facilities for first timers are on the first floor. Sport Flyers are well received with training and debriefing rooms on the second floor

The antechamber is large with many video and information screens.
You can go in an out when the tunnel is active,
but this creates an air flow out of the antechamber.

This is Eydisa's first wind tunnel so they are still working on improving air quality.
That said, the tunnel is very bright and a pleasure to fly.

The bar is excellent, really a nice place to relax after flying
